Flaps: designing for dance

This dance costume was created at a Designing for Dance residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta Canada.

Again in the spirit of garments not resting firmly in a singular shape form, I added flaps so that when the flaps were up the costume appeared as black and when the flaps are pulled down by the dancer their appeared flags of moving colour.  This is similar to garments where the lining can provide a surprise of colour or pattern
